Our Story

Storefront with a sign reading 'Salvage Design: Retro Vintage Industrial.' Large glass windows with various furniture pieces outside, including chairs, tables, and decorative items.

In 2017, having recently moved from South America, Nick and Cristina bought Salvage Design on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, a vintage furniture store and cafe.

Cristina had an eye for finding beauty in pre-loved furniture people would throw/give away and the creativity to give them a new lease on life by upcycling them back to their former glory.

Tired of seeing ‘fast furniture’ - furniture mass-produced, using low quality, materials designed to only last a season, Cristina sourced high quality, vintage, antique and second hand furniture, fixed them up, painted them or put new furnishings on them. Cristina found that door knobs and furnishings were a simple way for you to update your style at home without fast-furniture, and so, DecoHaus was born.

Joined by her daughter in 2024, DecoHaus has grown to become a trusted, affordable and good quality store aimed to make your house a home.
